SPREAD2INNO Innovation Academy 1
The 1st SPREAD2INNO Innovation Academy took place in Bologna, Italy, from 13-14 June, 2024 as part of the “WMF – We Make Future” Event.
Filled with a thrilling and enlightening programme, the two days provided a valuable opportunity for participating startups to explore the final frontier of ideas and level up their innovation. By offering one-to-one meetings, SPREAD2INNO provided expert advice to startups to make their visions come true. In workshops and talks by top experts, participants learned more about space economy, business models, EU fundings and innovation ecosystems. The highlight of the academy was the SPREAD2INNO pitch roulette, which was concluded by an award ceremony for the winning startups, which will receive access to the third and final phase of the SPREAD2INNO Acceleration Programme.
At the academy, participating startups were able to not only gain visibility in front of an expert audience, but also received exceptional insights into the innovation ecosystem as well as valuable networking opportunities.

Campsaround is a Greek startup offering unique accomodations in nature such as safari tents, treehouses, cabins, and more. Revolv Space revolutionises small satellite capabilities by developing cost-effective and reliable mechanisms & power systems, allowing continuous payload operations and full monetisation of space assets.
One of the finalists of the SPREAD2INNO project, the Italian startup recently gained funding of 2.6 million euros to advance their development of innovative space mechanisms and solar arrays. Revolv Space develops custom mechanisms compatible with the size and budget of small satellite missions, while not compromising reliability, as well as customised turnkey power generation systems. With its novel technology, the startup allows the boosting of the performance of small satellites and capabilities to offer to customers.

Astradyne is an Italian startup developing and manufacturing Deployable Space Structures.
The SPREAD2INNO finalist developed an innovative technology named FRET (Flexible, Reinforced Electronics with Textile), which reinforces flexible printed circuit boards with textile materials. The technology developed by Astradyne enables reliable distributed sensing for deployable structures, such as inflatable modules, solar panels, and astronaut spacesuits. Currently, the startup is working on SOLARCUBE, an origami-inspired solar panel for aerospace applications, leveraging FRET’s technology.
